Bettina Saffer

Tell me and I will forget.

Show me and I may remember.

Involve me and I will understand.

I was born and raised in Upper Franconia. Since 1997 I have worked as a state recognized teacher in different environments ranging from preschool to a therapeutic-pedagogic group with teenagers. I studied for and earned the Montessori-Diploma (AMI) in 2000 and subsequently worked for 5 years in an integrative Montessori-Kindergarten as a substitute head of administration.

After that, I moved to California to work at the German International School of Silicon Valley in preschool and also in kindergarten.

Since September of 2008 I have lived in Munich and worked at the International Preschool Lilli & Lori as head of administration. The combination of a bilingual concept and Montessori philosophy inspire me and I´m really happy to pass this along to the children.

Birgit Holler-Diagne

My name is Birgit Holler-Diagne.

I was born in 1966 at beautiful Lake Constance, but have been living and working in and around Munich for more than 20 years. I am married with 2 adult sons.

I am a state recognized pre-school teacher in addition to being a trained Montessori teacher.

After completing my pre-school teacher training I lived 2 years in Roseville, California, where I worked as an Au-pair  and gave German-lessons at some privat schools. There, I was first introduced to Montessori, and when back in Germany, I did my international Montessori training - which included learning to work with children who have special needs.

While working in various pre-schools I have experienced the very positive influence of the Montessori-pedagogy on children, parents and teacher. Since January 2009 I have been part of the Lilli & Lori team.

I still find bilingual education to be very exciting and I enjoy enriching the children´s lives with my treasures of international songs, stories, recipes, games, art and crafts etc.

Magic Word

Sleeps a song in things abounding

that keep dreaming to be heard:

Earth'es tunes will start resounding

if you find the magic word.

Chloe Templeton

Hello, I'm Chloe. I grew up in Australia in sunny Queensland and moved to Germany in 2010.  Since moving to Munich I have worked in a bilingual Child Care Centre with children between the ages of  6 months and 6 years. I have also had the opportunity to travel and to learn the German language. I have a young son, who is quite adventurous!  I practice Yoga, and have completed my Children's Yoga Certification.

I feel honoured to have the opportunity to come and work at Lilli and Lori. Everyday I bring my creative skills, my patience and my love of working together with children to contribute to the wonderful and nurturing atmosphere here in the Preschool.

Christa Sacker

Christa Sacker was born in 1951 and grew up in Munich. She began her studies as an Elementary School Teacher and graduated from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a Masters degree in Pedagogy and Psychology. In 1992 she received her International Montessori Diploma from the Association Montessori International (AMI) in San Francisco, California. Following this, Christa worked for many years worldwide, at International Montessori Schools in the USA, Hong Kong, Ireland, London and Munich.

Christa has been a permanent member of our Lilli & Lori Team since the beginning. She primarily teaches the 5 to 6 year old children in our English spoken “K-Class”. In these regular morning classes, based on the Montessori philosophy, the children get the opportunity to learn and prepare for 1st grade at either German or International Schools in a fun and interesting way. With Christa´s extensive professional experience, the children receive a solid learning foundation for their transition to further schools.

peter orphanides

Peter Orphanides was born in Toowoomba (Aboriginal word meaning place of melons), Queensland, Australia.

His parents were born on the island of Cyprus (EU member).

He has a Diploma in Visual Communication and has worked as a graphic designer/production supervisor for a publisher of children’s books and teaching material for schools.

Since moving to Munich in January 2007, Peter has worked for English-speaking holiday camps, as well as a substitute teacher’s assistant in other Montessori preschools.

I have been with Lilli & Lori since April 2008. We have lots of fun with creative and learning activities, and regularly working on Wood Work and Science projects together. I get great enjoyment and satisfaction from observing how our children develop, grow and gradually gain an understanding of the world around us.

I feel very fortunate to be a part of the preschool team.

Christine - currently on maternity leave

My name is Christine and I was born and raised in Munich. After graduation I lived both in Slovakia and Spain where I completed my degrees in Advanced English Studies and German Literary Theory. During this time, I mainly specialised in South African children`s literature as well as German post-war children´s and youth literature.

It was throughout my studies that I started conducting English and German courses for adults and children at various language institutes. I soon realized that I was at my happiest when working with young children, which prompted me to work as an English teacher at a high school in Munich.

My interest in language and children´s literature makes working in such an international environment here at Lilli & Lori a very exciting experience for me. As well as English I speak German, Spanish and Slovak.

I am looking forward to helping your children grow in confidence and guide them through a very important and exciting stage of their lives.

Kelly Burton

Hello, my name is Kelly Burton. In summer 2019, I moved back to Munich for the third time due to my husband's job. In the U.S., I worked as an Occupational Therapist for 18 years.

Previously in Munich, I worked at another Montessori preschool as a teacher`s assistant. I realized then how I can relate the Montessori philosophy to Occupational Therapy. This makes Montessori concept very interesting for me.

This past September (2019) at the Münchner Volkshochschule I completed the CELTA course, which taught me how to teach English as a second language. In the mornings, I teach Business English at several different companies in Munich.

I am continuing to develop my German language skills and am delighted to have found a position at Lilli & Lori. You will find me here on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

I look forward to getting to know you all soon!
